This is for an AR-15 lover. What if your AR-15 could shoot in semi-automatic with sub-MOA accuracy to 1,000 yards and beyond? Now you can! But how? There are two calibers to consider.

The 6.5 Grendel and the .224 Valkyrie were designed to extend the range of the AR-15 beyond 1,000 yards. They each take a very different approach. The Grendel uses a heavier, longer, and fatter bullet that maintains supersonic flight past 1,200 yards. The Valkyrie uses a .224” diameter bullet that is longer and heavier than the .223 and stays supersonic past 1,300 yards.

6065 or 7075 - which aircraft-grade forged aluminum alloy is best for AR-15 lowersSelecting a grade is one's task on finding a balance between performance and cost.
A good place to start is by understanding similarities and differences between 6065 and 7075 aluminum alloy. Similarities:
The two alloys are very similar. They have the same agents such as magnesium, silicon, copper, iron, zinc, titanium, manganese, etc. Both are heat treatable.
Differences:The real differences are found in the amount of each agent present. For example, the 6065 aluminum alloy contains less zinc than the 7075 alloy. Thus, the 6065 alloy provides...

Reliability Cuts on Bolt Carrier - During the operation of a direct impingement gas system, hot gas is taken directly from the gas port and moved into the action of the...

The Modern AR-15 rifle. So many choices. And this is always a Controversial topic - what barrel with what twist rate is the best to use. The answer is pretty simple - depending what you will be using your rifle for.

1-in-9 Inches
1-in-9 is a great compromise twist rate—not too fast to cause problems with the 55-grain Bullets, but fast enough to stabilize all but the heaviest bullets under most circumstances. This twist will stabilize most traditional bullets up to 75-grains, and monolithics up to 70-grains—but they do so right at the edge of the envelope so not all rifles will do it.

1-in-8 Inches
For a 16-inch general-use carbine,...
