Is .22 Long the same as .22 LR?

No. .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle (.22 LR) are different rimfire cartridges. They share the same case length, but .22 LR generally uses a heavier bullet and has become far more common. A firearm chambered for .22 LR may be capable of firing .22 Long depending on its design, but reliable feeding and cycling—particularly in semi-automatic firearms—is not guaranteed. Always follow the firearm manufacturer's approved ammunition specifications.
