What is a 24-inch AR-15 upper best suited for?

A 24-inch AR-15 upper is primarily suited to shooters who prioritize a full-length rifle configuration, velocity potential and precision-oriented use rather than compact handling. In 5.56 NATO or .223 Wylde configurations, 24" barrels are commonly considered for target and varmint applications. Actual performance depends on the barrel, twist rate and ammunition selected.
